The United Provinces of the Center of America, later the Federal Republic of Central America was established on July 10, 1823. But after the member states of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua gradually seceded, the Federation was dissolved by 1839.
The Central American Republic issued coins, but no banknotes, in Escudos (XCAE) and Reales until 1850.
